Welcome to the Monday edition of the Pick Six newsletter! As the resident homer here at CBSSports.com, I was going to make the entire newsletter today about the Bengals, but I didn't want everyone to quit reading halfway through, so I decided to at least mention a few of the other teams in the NFL.In case you haven't looked at the AFC standings over the past 24 hours, the Bengals are currently at the top. That's right, if the playoffs started next week, the Bengals would be the No. 1 seed in the conference. The only thing more surprising than that is that the would be the second seed. I'm 99% sure we're living in the upside down because that's the only way to explain how the top two teams in the AFC are a team that went 4-11-1 last season and a team that saw its head coach resign two weeks ago.Alright, we've got a lot to cover today, so let's get to the rundown. As always, here's your weekly reminder to tell all your friends to sign up for the Pick Six newsletter. To get your friends to sign up, all you have to do is with them. 1. Today's show: Week 7 winners and losers, plus full recapIt's Monday, which can only mean one thing: I stayed up until 3 a.m. last night recording a podcast with Will Brinson and Ryan Wilson that touched on everything you need to know about Week 7, and let me just say, it's probably for the best that you listen. We covered all 11 games from Sunday and as the resident Bengals homer on the podcast, I made sure to take multiple victory laps on both Brinson and Wilson, who I think are finally conceding that the Bengals might actually be good. One thing we do every week is hand out our weekly winners and losers from Sunday's action. For our losers this week, we all went with quarterbacks. Wilson picked one who's never been on the Adrian Morejon Jersey loser's list while Brinson and I went with quarterbacks who seem to lose every week.Ryan WilsonWinner: .The Bucs are taking care of busine s. Their win over Chicago marked the third time this season that Tampa Bay has won a game by 20 or more points. They don't play down to their competition and they're destroying everyone in their path.Loser: . There's a first time for everything and this marks the first time that Mahomes has been listed in the losers section, which is almost fitting, because this is also the first season in Mahomes' career where the are playing like a team that might not make the playoffs. Will BrinsonWinner: .The Raiders quarterback is playing the best football of his career and in what may or may not be a coincidence, he seems to have gotten even better since the resignation of Jon Gruden.Loser: .The quarterback was so bad against the that it's almost like he was daring Panthers owner David Tepper to go out and trade for .John BreechWinner: City of Cincinnati. The city with the best chili now has the best football team in the AFC. Thanks to their win over the , the Bengals are now officially in the No. 1 spot in the conference and they're looking more and more like a team that's going to get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2015.Loser: .Losing to his old team was bad enough, but to add insult to injury, he was basically the reason they lost. The had a wild game plan where nearly everything worked -- they ran two fake punts and a succe sful onside kick -- but they didn't pull off the upset because Goff threw an ugly fourth quarter interception in the end zone in a game the Lions trailed 25-19. He then followed that up one po se sion later by throwing another interception. It wasn't a good day for Goff. Not only did we list our winners and losers, but we also recapped every game from Sunday. To listen to today's episode -- and to subscribe to the best daily NFL podcast out there -- . You can also WATCH . 2. Week 7 grades: get an 'A+' for embarra sing the Every week I team up with six of my colleagues here at CBSSports.com to hand out grades, and this week, the Patriots got an 'A+' for embarra sing the Jets. Here's a look at the grades from two notable games that were played Sunday:Patriots 54-13 over Jets ()Jets takeaway: The Jets lost quarterback to a knee injury in the first half and then things only got worse from there. The Jets defense had no answers for anything the Patriots did as New England piled up 551 yards and 54 points. The yardage total was the most the Jets have given up in a game since 1998. The points total was the most they had given up in a game since 1979 when they surrendered 56 to, yup, you gue sed it, the Patriots.Grade: D-Patriots takeaway: At times in this game, it almost looked like the Patriots offense was playing Carlos Asuaje Jersey against air. The Patriots were able to move the ball at will and that's mostly because both and had career days. Jones threw for 307 yards, marking the first time in his short career that he's hit the 300-yard mark. As for Harris, he went over 100 yards for the second week in a row and third time this season. Grade: A+ 30-18 over ()Colts takeaway:The Colts offensive game plan on Sunday night was pretty simple: They either gave the ball to or threw it long and hoped for a defensive pa s interference penalty. Surprisingly, the strategy actually worked well because the Colts ended up drawing three PI flags for 97 yards. Running the ball also worked as Taylor piled up 107 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.Grade: B49ers takeaway:The 49ers looked sharp on their first drive of the game, but then everything fell apart after that. After driving 78 yards for a touchdown on their opening po se sion, the 49ers would only have ONE other drive in the game of more than 40 yards and that didn't come until fourth quarter when it was way too late. was an absolute disaster, throwing two picks and losing a fumble. Those three turnovers alone led to 14 points for the Colts.Grade:DAs for the other 18 grades . 3. throws 600th career TD pa s, has to make trade with fan to get it backThere wasn't very much drama on the field during the Buccaneers' 38-3 blowout win over the on Sunday, but there was definitely some drama off the field after Tom Brady threw his 600th career touchdown pa s.Here are some details on what went down in Tampa.Brady becomes first player in NFL history to throw 600 touchdowns. The Buccaneers quarterback needed two TD pa ses to reach the milestone number and he got his second one near the end of the first quarter when he hit for a nine-yard score. Evans GAVE AWAY the touchdown ball. Evans clearly didn't realize that he had the milestone ball because he ended up giving it away to a fan in the stands. The receiver clearly felt bad about this because .Buccaneers fan Blake Snell Jersey wanted to keep the ball. The Buccaneers fan who ended up with the ball (Byron Kennedy) actually wanted to keep it. When the team asked him to return it, he wasn't so sure. "I said basically that I really want to keep it," Kennedy . Kennedy actually filmed .Buccaneers bribe Kennedy. To get the ball back, the Buccaneers made Kennedy an offer he couldn't refuse: They gave him another football plus a $1,000 gift card to the team store plus they promised to give him a signed Tom Brady jersey.Brady also promised to give Kennedy a gift. Brady doesn't actually keep his milestone footballs very often, but he wanted the 600th TD ball and now that he has it, he's promised to reward Kennedy for the goodwill gesture. "I don't keep too many things. In that circumstance, I just felt like that might be a good one to keep. He's going to get something nice in return. We'll get him a helmet, a couple of jerseys or some other stuff. It was really cool of him to do that."The football was valued at more than $500,000. Ken Goldin of Goldin Auctions than $500,000 if it was to be sold, which means Kennedy just gave away $500,000 in exchange for a football, a jersey and a $1,000 gift card. Not a great deal for him. If the Buccaneers want to do this guy right, they'll make sure to throw in season tickets for the next 10 years plus maybe a trip to every Super Bowl during that period.Although giving up the ball probably felt like a gut punch, Kennedy definitely made the right decision. If he had kept the ball, he probably would have had to move out of Tampa because he would have forever been known as the Buccaneers fan who didn't give Tom Brady his football back. He would've been this generation's Bartman. 4. Seven crazy facts from Week 7Every Sunday night, I get an email from our research department here at CBS Sports, and every Sunday, that email always includes some amazingly wild facts about the games that were just played. With that in mind, here are seven crazy facts about Week 7:Washington pulls off NFL rarity.During the Football Team's 24-10 lo s to the , they didn't punt a SINGLE TIME, making them just the fourth team in the Super Bowl era to have zero punts in a game where they scored 10 or fewer points.Patrick Mahomes and both dealing with defeat. The 2018 MVP (Mahomes) and 2019 MVP (Jackson) both lost by 24 points on Sunday, which is the worst lo s for both quarterbacks in their careers. Before Sunday, Mahomes' largest lo s was by 18 points while Jackson's largest lo s was by 15. Also, Jackson had never lost in the month of October before this week. torches Ravens. The Bengals QB threw for 416 yards and three touchdowns, which is notable, because it makes him the first player ever to throw for more than 400 yards and at least three touchdowns against the Ravens in Baltimore. Four other quarterbacks -- Tom Brady, , Drew Brees and -- have hit those numbers against the Ravens, but none of them did it IN Baltimore. One thing those quarterbacks have in common is that they all won at least one Super Bowl. ' win over ends with final score that's never been seen before in NFL history. The 30-5 final score in the Cardinals-Texans game marks the first time in NFL history Javy Guerra Jersey that a game has ever ended with that score. It in NFL history. going off. With 163 yards against the , tight end Kyle Pitts became the first rookie tight end with back-to-back 100-yard receiving games since Raymond Chester, who did it with the Raiders in 1970.Bears struggling with the pa s. Seven weeks into the season, the Bears still have yet to finish with 200 pa sing yards in a game, ( ) that a team has made it through the first seven weeks without hitting that number. makes NFL history. The Cardinals tight end scored a touchdown against the Texans on Sunday, marking the second straight week that he's scored a TD. The twist here is that he played for the in Week 6, which makes him the the first player in NFL history to with two different teams in consecutive games of the same season. If the Cardinals trade him this week, he could catch a TD with a third team in Week 8... but I'm gue sing that's not going to happen. 5. Monday preview: Prepping you for at Playing in Seattle used to be a huge home-field advantage for the Seahawks but not this year. Through two home games, the Seahawks are 0-2 and if they fall to 0-3 with a lo s tonight, that will also drop them to last place in the NFC West, a full five games behind the Cardinals. Basically, this is game they can't afford to lose. My good buddy Jared Dubin wrote our deep-dive preview for this game here at CBSSports.com, and here's how he sees the game playing out:Why the Saints can win:The most talented offensive player on the field in this game is likely going to be and if the Saints are going to win, it's likely going to be because they gave him a lot of touches. The Seahawks have one of the worst defenses in football, which means Kamara could Kirby Yates Jersey put up some big numbers tonight both on the ground and through the air.Why the Seahawks can win: The Seahawks would obviously love to run the ball, but the Saints have one of the best run defenses in football, which means this game is likely going to fall square on the shoulders of . If Smith can complement the Seahawks ground game by making the occasional big play, the Seahawks will definitely have a chance to pull off the upset. You . The Seahawks are currently a four-point underdog in a game where heavy rain is expected.Dubin's pick:Saints 27-13 over Seahawks. My pick:Saints 19-16 over Seahawks. If you're thinking about betting on the game, Tyler Sullivan put together a full gambling preview. ONE PROP TYLER LIKES: UNDER 26.5 pa sing attempts (-130):ONE PROP I LIKE: Alvin Kamara OVER 127.5 rushing and receiving yards (-115):The Seahawks have one of the worst defenses in the NFL and since Kamara is the biggest weapon on the Saints, I'm going to go ahead and a sume that he's going to have a huge game. You . 6. Rapid-fire roundupIt was a busy weekend in the NFL and since it's nearly impo sible to keep track of everything that happened, I went ahead and put together a roundup for you.Zach Wilson could be out for up to a month. The Jets QB injured his knee on Sunday and that injury turned out to be a strained PCL, which is . could be back sooner than expected. The Seahawks QB is having the pin in his finger removed this week, . With the pin out, Wilson could make an immediate return from IR and if that happens, he'd be eligible to return to practice after Seattle's Week 8 game against the . Patriots secondary takes a hit. Patriots cornerback has decided to undergo shoulder surgery, which is going to knock him out for the rest of the 2021 season, .Jaguars lose for the year. After fracturing his ankle a few weeks ago, it appears Chark won't be making a return this year. Jaguars coach Urban Meyer announced on Monday that Chark will mi s the rest of the 2021 season. and pull off weekend trade. With the Broncos desperate for linebackers, they decided to pull off a trade for Minnesota's . To acquire the Vikings linebacker, the Broncos are sending a 2022 seventh-round pick to Minnesota. They'll get a 2023 seventh-round pick back from the Vikings.Former Patriots receiver calls it a career. After 10 NFL seasons, Hogan has decided to hang up his cleats for good. Hogan played for a total of five teams in his career -- the , Patriots, Saints, Panthers and Jets -- but his most impre sive work definitely came with New England. The two-time Super Bowl winner went over 500 yards in two of his three seasons with the Patriots, which is a number he never hit with any other team. Hogan also had 128 yards and a TD in the Patriots' Super Bowl lo s to the Eagles. For more details on Hogan's career, .

The unexpected death of future NBA Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant shocked the sports world and has Matt Beaty Jersey reverberated ever since, with tributes acro s entertainment and sports in the subsequent days. Today, on the biggest stage in which sports and entertainment annually meet, the Super Bowl halftime show will be no different. Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, the co-headliners of this year's Super Bowl halftime show () Austin Barnes Jersey , revealed this week that there is a plan to honor the Lakers legend on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium."We'll all be remembering Kobe on Sunday and celebrating life and diversity in this country," Shakira said at a Super Bowl pre s conference on Thursday. "I'm sure he'd be very proud to see the me sage we are trying to convey on stage that day."Bryant and his daughter, Gianna, died Sunday in a helicopter accident along with seven other people that included basketball teammates of Gianna's and their parents.Lopez added that the tribute will be "heartfelt." had one of the best seasons for a defensive lineman in NFL history, culminated with winning the A sociated Pre s' Chris Stewart Jersey Defensive Player of the Year award at the NFL Honors ceremony on Thursday night. Watt, an All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection, is the seventh player to earn the honor and the first since Troy Polamalu in 2010.Watt joins brother as the first pair of brothers to win Defensive Player of the Year. J.J. Watt won the award three times (2012, 2014, 2015), tied for the most in NFL history. The 2021 season was historic for Watt, as he finished with 22.5 sacks in 14 games -- tying Michael Strahan for the single-season sack record.Watt finished his 2021 season leading the league in sacks, quarterback hits (39) and fumble recoveries (three). He averaged 1. Eric Staal Jersey 5 sacks per game and finished with 12.5 sacks in the second half and overtime -- which also led the league. He's just the fifth player to lead the league in sacks, tackles for lo s, and quarterbacks hits in a season -- joining , J.J. Watt, , and . Watt's 72 career sacks in his first 77 games are the most by any linebacker in NFL history. His 0.94 sacks-per-game average is the highest in league history, as Watt and Reggie White are the only players to have 13-plus sacks in four consecutive seasons. Only Mikko Koivu Jersey White (nine), Bruce Smith (seven) and Kevin Greene (six) have more 13-plus sack seasons than Watt -- whose four 13-plus sacks in his first five seasons are tied with White for the most in NFL history. What Watt has been able to accomplish in his first five seasons has been historic, as his 150 quarterback hits over his first 77 games trail only J.J. Watt for the most in league Matt Dumba Jersey history (most ever for a linebacker). Only White has more sacks (87) over his first 77 games in league history. Watt is etching his mark as one of the best defensive players ever -- finally having the hardware to back up that claim. The 's 2023 schedules are likely to be unveiled this week, but every team's opponents for the upcoming season are already known. With that in mind, it's safe to say that a big part of the ' Minnesota Twins Jersey succe s or failure this fall will hinge on how well Todd Bowles' defense fares against young quarterbacks.Tampa Bay will play 17 games this fall, and it's reasonable to think that eight of them nearly half will be against quarterbacks with five or fewer career starts entering this season. That includes the three rookies taken in the top four picks of the 2023 NFL Draft two games against and , plus games at ( ) and ( ). Those rookies might not yet be starting when the Bucs face their teams, but Tampa Bay also has two games against and (four career starts), one against and (five career starts) and one against and (one career start). That's eight out of 17 against young, inexperienced starting quarterbacks, and it could be more. The Bucs actually face all of the first five quarterbacks picked in last month's draft, so in theory, they could see second-round pick whenever the come to Tampa, and le s likely third-round pick when they face .From a quarterback standpoint, the Bucs' 2023 season will be very different from 2022, and not just because Tom Brady has retired. Brady went up against some of the NFL's best quarterbacks last year, facing , , and . By comparison, you could argue that the Bucs will face only three top-10 NFL quarterbacks this fall, in , and perhaps .So given the relative youth of the quarterbacks they'll be facing, the larger question is this: How will the Bucs defense handle the opportunity to confuse/confound/ Fernando Rodney Jersey rattle an inexperienced pa ser? The answer has been a mixed bag in the past four years with Bowles running the Tampa Bay defense. From the middle of 2019 to the middle of 2021, this was a dream matchup for Bowles' defense, which won seven straight games against quarterbacks with 10 career starts or fewer. The Bucs beat , , , Hurts and Tony Oliva Jersey early in their careers in that stretch, giving up a total of 10 touchdowns pa ses against 10 interceptions in those seven wins. This is what you'd expect, with Bowles throwing multiple fronts and coverages and creative blitz packages against quarterbacks still learning how to read and proce s the defenses in front of them.Since then? It's not pretty. Since November 2021, with Brady at quarterback, the Bucs are 1-6 against opposing quarterbacks with 10 career starts or fewer, and that one single win needed overtime last year to beat and a team that would finish 4-13. These aren't all high Justin Morneau Jersey draft picks, with lo ses to players like Carolina's and 's . In going 1-6 in those games, the Bucs defense gave up eight touchdowns and managed one interception, that coming against McSorley. Now, you can affix an asterisk to some of these Bucs lo ses. The last one, against Ridder in Atlanta, came with the Bucs resting their starters in the second half (some more than that) because their playoff seeding was set. They lost to and last year, but more because came in as an injury replacement. The overall vibe remains intact. The Bucs' 2023 season will be largely played against younger quarterbacks. Of their 17 opponents, they're likely to have six games total against quarterbacks with 35 or more career starts entering the 2023 season: twice with , and , Allen and . Four games against rookies, four against very new starters, another against Fields, who is 5-20 as an NFL starter. It's counterintuitive, but in four years of Bowles running the Bucs defense, Tampa Bay is actually better against older, more Nelson Cruz Jersey experienced quarterbacks. Consider that 35-start line as a dividing point they're just 12-10 (55% wins) against quarterbacks with 35 career starts or fewer, and 27-17 (61% wins) against quarterbacks with 36 or more.If the Bucs are to contend for a third straight division title this fall, they'll have to find more consistent succe s against the younger quarterbacks who will be all over their schedule in 2023.Greg Auman is FOX Sports NFC South reporter, covering the Buccaneers, Falcons, Panthers and Saints. TAMPA, Fla. -- This wasn't the kind of history came out of retirement to make. Before Sunday, the quarterback had been 89-0 in his career in home games where he leads by 17 points or more at any point in the game. Just three lo ses in 23 NFL seasons, period, once he had Devon Travis Jersey such a big cushion. And somehow the Bucs went from leading the 17-0 just before halftime hey, this is how they're capable of playing again to Brady committing four turnovers in a span of 10 offensive plays, helping the Bengals to ."Turnovers kill you, and they killed us today," said Brady, who committed four turnovers combined in the first 11 games of this season. "It's not the way we need to (play) in order to win, and that's certainly not how I need to play in order to win ... We literally just gave them the ball."Up 14 at the half and lose by 11 points or more? That had happened just four times to any NFL team since 1987, just under 35 years, and the Bucs pulled it off Sunday, finding a new and even more confounding way to lose.A week earlier, they trailed 28-0 at the half, losing 35-7 at the . They've lost twice to the and on mi sed two-point conversions. They lost on a one-handed fourth-down touchdown catch in the final minute to set up an overtime lo s.Despite all these lo ses eight now, the most ever for a team with Brady as starting quarterback the Bucs have the odd consolation of still being Jaime Garcia Jersey in first place in the NFC South, one game ahead of three 5-9 teams and still very much in control of their playoff destiny."All you can do is fight," coach Todd Bowles said after the game. "You can fight, you can play smarter, you can coach smarter, and we have to keep fighting. We understand that what we're doing is not good enough, by far. It's not even close to good enough, and we have three games left to save our season."The Bucs play on Christmas at Arizona, which just lost quarterback to a season-ending knee injury, and is 4-10 and has lost four in a row and six of seven. Win there and at home on New Year's Day against Carolina (which beat them 20-3 in Charlotte this season) and Tampa Bay will clinch back-to-back division titles for the first time in their history, earning a home playoff game.Probabilities aside, that seems hard to imagine, given how the Bucs played in the second half Sunday, up 17-3 and in complete control of the game.Facing a fourth-and-1 from their 26-yard line, Bowles called for a fake punt, but as the ball was snapped directly to backup running back Gio Bernard, he didn't seem to expect it, and the ball bounced off the side of his helmet and he was tackled for a turnover on downs. Even then, the Bucs defense held the Bengals to just a field goal and kept a 17-6 lead. Then a buzzsaw of four Brady turnovers in four drives, leading to three Bengals touchdowns and a 27-17 lead. Brady had a pa s intercepted by , fumbled on a sack and then fumbled on a handoff to . The Bengals only had to go 31, 13 and 39 yards for their touchdowns, this after getting the ball at the Bucs' 13 off the fake punt. If there were any chance of bouncing back for a comeback, Brady threw another interception on the next drive, for four turnovers in a span of 10 offensive plays."We're pi sed off," Bowles said of his locker room after the game. "It's the same old song. It's Bucs vs. Bucs. We play a good first half, and the second half, we come out and we shoot ourselves in the foot, either by turnovers or penalties Kendrys Morales Jersey or field position on special teams. It's a tale of two halves, and the half we played in the second half was Bucs vs. Bucs."That has been the storyline all season, a team good enough for Brady to come out of retirement for, yet unable to score anywhere nearly as consistently as his first two seasons in Tampa, getting 30 points a game. The 23 points scored by the Bucs on Sunday including six on a meaningle s touchdown pa s with 49 seconds left marked the second-highest scoring total this season, behind a 41-31 lo s to the that also included a tack-on touchdown in the final minutes. The defense continues to be unable to create takeaways with any regularity. They had one Sunday, intercepting a pa s, but that's just 13 takeaways total in 14 games in the entire NFL, only the (11) and Saints (10) have forced fewer. The Bucs have just three games left, and could even back into the playoffs as a 7-10 division champ, but it's been so rare that they've played like a first-place team, that they've played like a winning team from start to finish, that even if they got to the playoffs, there's little confidence in what the Bucs could Justin Smoak Jersey do, even with a seven-time Super Bowl champion as their quarterback."I think we have the ability to play good," Brady said. "I don't think we lack confidence in playing good. It's just consistency. Two good quarters doesn't win you any football games, and five turnovers doesn't win you football games."It's the first time in Brady's career he's had multiple interceptions and multiple lost fumbles in the same game. His ability to avoid turnovers was perhaps what he'd done best as a 45-year-old, but even that has given way with six turnovers in the last two lo ses.The Bucs are a team with a losing record, but reasonably, all they have to do is beat two teams that have losing records in the next three weeks, and they'll be a playoff team, if an underwhelming one. Tampa Bay does not have much time to turn their season around, but that remains their goal, however frustrating that pursuit continues to be for them."We have a lot of toughne s," Bowles said. "We have to deal with adversity better. We have to stop the miscues and the Bucs vs. Bucs. We understand that. We talk about it, we Aaron Sanchez Jersey preach it, we practice it, we take ownership of it, and we'll fight to stop it."Top stories from FOX Sports:Read more from the :Greg Auman is FOX Sports NFC South reporter, covering the Buccaneers, Falcons, Panthers and Saints.
