Hublot Launches Simple Monochrome Classic Fusion Essential Grey Watch

 

No frills in grey tones.

Hublot has just launched the third watch in its “Essential Grey” series, which is based on a cool monochrome style. The latest Classic Fusion “Essential Grey” watch is available in 42mm and 45mm sizes.

It has a low-key look with a sun-brushed grey dial and a titanium case.

The earlier Essential Grey model was a chronograph, while the new one is simple and clear, showing only the time and date. The Essential Grey chronograph looks busy even though it is monochrome. The Classic Fusion, on the other hand, pairs perfectly with the monochrome color scheme.

The design is simple, typical of Hublot, and complements the color scheme. The Classic Fusion is a wearable watch in its own right, and this restrained look makes it even more wearable.

the Classic Fusion Essential Grey is one of Hublot's most affordable watches, but even with the base Sellita SW300 movement, it's still expensive. The SW300 is powerful, inexpensive, and is often used in relatively inexpensive watches. I know Hublot is working on a powerful in-house movement to replace the SW300, but until then, the price remains strong.

The Classic Fusion Essential Grey is available in 42mm and 45mm case sizes, and other dimensions are identical except for the case size. The 42mm version is 10.4mm thick, while the 45mm version is 10.95mm thick.

Both watches are equipped with different versions of the Sellita SW300 movement, slightly modified to suit the specific case. The 42mm version is equipped with the HUB1110 movement, while the 45mm version is equipped with the HUB1112 movement.

Both watches are styled in the same way. In classic Hublot style, the porthole-shaped bezel is secured by six H-shaped screws. The case is made of titanium with contrasting brushed and mirror-polished surfaces.

The dial is metallic grey with a radial brushed finish, and features a date display at three o'clock with a matching grey date disc. The hour markers and hands are polished and faceted.

As is standard for the Classic Fusion, the strap is screwed to the case, unlike high-end Hublot models that have a quick-release feature. The fabric strap is fitted with Hublot's standard single-folding clasp, but its ergonomics are a little lacking.
