The 's 2023 schedules are likely to be unveiled this week, but every team's opponents for the upcoming season are already known. With that in mind, it's safe to say that a big part of the ' Minnesota Twins Jersey succe s or failure this fall will hinge on how well Todd Bowles' defense fares against young quarterbacks.Tampa Bay will play 17 games this fall, and it's reasonable to think that eight of them nearly half will be against quarterbacks with five or fewer career starts entering this season. That includes the three rookies taken in the top four picks of the 2023 NFL Draft two games against and , plus games at ( ) and ( ). Those rookies might not yet be starting when the Bucs face their teams, but Tampa Bay also has two games against and (four career starts), one against and (five career starts) and one against and (one career start).That's eight out of 17 against young, inexperienced starting quarterbacks, and it could be more. The Bucs actually face all of the first five quarterbacks picked in last month's draft, so in theory, they could see second-round pick whenever the come to Tampa, and le s likely third-round pick when they face .From a quarterback standpoint, the Bucs' 2023 season will be very different from 2022, and not just because Tom Brady has retired. Brady went up against some of the NFL's best quarterbacks last year, facing , , and . By comparison, you could argue that the Bucs will face only three top-10 NFL quarterbacks this fall, in , and perhaps .So given the relative youth of the quarterbacks they'll be facing, the larger question is this: How will the Bucs defense handle the opportunity to confuse/confound/ Fernando Rodney Jersey rattle an inexperienced pa ser? Win there and at home on New Year's Day against Carolina (which beat them 20-3 in Charlotte this season) and Tampa Bay will clinch back-to-back division titles for the first time in their history, earning a home playoff game.Probabilities aside, that seems hard to imagine, given how the Bucs played in the second half Sunday, up 17-3 and in complete control of the game.Facing a fourth-and-1 from their 26-yard line, Bowles called for a fake punt, but as the ball was snapped directly to backup running back Gio Bernard, he didn't seem to expect it, and the ball bounced off the side of his helmet and he was tackled for a turnover on downs. Even then, the Bucs defense held the Bengals to just a field goal and kept a 17-6 lead.Then a buzzsaw of four Brady turnovers in four drives, leading to three Bengals touchdowns and a 27-17 lead. Brady had a pa s intercepted by , fumbled on a sack and then fumbled on a handoff to . The Bengals only had to go 31, 13 and 39 yards for their touchdowns, this after getting the ball at the Bucs' 13 off the fake punt. If there were any chance of bouncing back for a comeback, Brady threw another interception on the next drive, for four turnovers in a span of 10 offensive plays."We're pi sed off," Bowles said of his locker room after the game. "It's the same old song. It's Bucs vs. Bucs. We play a good first half, and the second half, we come out and we shoot ourselves in the foot, either by turnovers or penalties Kendrys Morales Jersey or field position on special teams. "I don't think we lack confidence in playing good. It's just consistency. His ability to avoid turnovers was perhaps what he'd done best as a 45-year-old, but even that has given way with six turnovers in the last two lo ses.The Bucs are a team with a losing record, but reasonably, all they have to do is beat two teams that have losing records in the next three weeks, and they'll be a playoff team, if an underwhelming one. For Tunisia, their second-place finish in Group C sees them up against Group D winners Ghana.The Black Stars have won the cup on four occasions with the last one coming way back in 1982, but are one of the tournament favourites alongside Ivory Coast and the Tunisians will have a huge task to qualify for the semi-finals.African giants Morocco and Senegal didnt even make out of the group stages, and that has placed Tunisia as one of the favourites. Shock troopers Zambia won their group, as did giants Ivory Coast. Co-hosts Gabon and Equatorial Guinea also made the last eight.In the group stages Tunisia won two out of three games, defeating North African rivals Morocco 2-1 and beating Niger by the same score-line. Losing to Gabon in the last game meant they mi sed out on winning the group and playing Mali instead of Ghana.Outside betThe Carthage Eagles were an outside Matthew Boyd Jersey bet to be victorious going in to the competition as many big nations mi sed out on the CAN2012, including Egypt (winners of the last three), Nigeria, Cameroon and South Africa. If it wasnt for a late Moroccan consolation goal the Tunisians would have come away with a clean sheet. The opening win gave the whole squad a confidence boost that carried onto the next game.Pace exposedThe second fixture of the group, another 2-1 win, was a difficult task. They came up against Niger who were hurting after losing the first game to co-hosts Gabon, and the impre sive striker Mou sa Maazou caused the Tunisian defence all sorts of problems. It was the first time that captain Karim Haggui and defensive partner Aymen Abdennour were exposed for their lack of pace at the tournament, and the extremely fast and powerful Maazou used this to his advantage. But in the end, it was Tunisia who got the points thanks to the ever reliable striker Isaam Jemaas strike in the last minute.The third and final game of the group came against Gabon who were ahead of Tunisia on goal difference at the top. Both teams had already made it through from the group but were vying for the top slot in Group C, allowing them to avoid the Group D winner which was Ghana. The eight changes that Trabelsi made to the Tunisia team proved to be his downfall as Gabon deservedly grabbed a 1-0 victory to send their pa sionate home backing into raptures. So far they havent shown their inexperience and have played quite cautiously, relying on the counter-attack whilst sitting rather deep, which has worked in two out of the three games played. They also look up to the team captain. Karim Haggui is the most experienced in the squad and has shown to exert his knowledge to the youngsters in front of him. He may have been shown up for a lack of pace in the Niger game but he can read the game very well and is a regular for Bundesliga club Hannover 96.Tunisia vs Ghana, Stade de Franceville, SundayWith tournament favourites Ghana up next on Sunday, it is without doubt their biggest challenge of the finals to date. Ghana have an impre sive arsenal of talent in their squad, with players from a host of Joe Jimenez Jersey top leagues. They do however respect Tunisia and know they are up for the quarter-final clash. Ghanas striking idol Asamoah Gyan echoes this belief, saying: It will be difficult against one of the best teams in this competition. But we will rise to the occasion because with the Ghanaian character, we will always handle the pre sure.With such a host of top talents like Gyan, Sulley Muntari, Andre & Jordan Ayew and John Mensah the Tunisian coach Trabelsi will have to pull off a shock to get past the Black Stars. Nolan Ryan Jersey For 11 seasons, Keith Butler worked as a linebackers coach under Dick LeBeau. Last offseason, the parted ways with LeBeau and promoted Butler. Naturally, there was trepidation about the move. LeBeau was a Hall of Famer, a defensive innovator, beloved by everyone, and had spent more than a half-century in football. But there was also no denying that those vaunted Steelers defenses of recent Super Bowl runs were a thing of the past. When the Steelers faced the in XL, was a second-year quarterback who benefitted from having the league's . When the Steelers returned to the Super Bowl in 2008, Roethlisberger had established himself as one of the NFL's best young quarterbacks. But the defense had also improved -- to the and arguably one of the most complete defenses of the last decade. Similar story in 2010, Pittsburgh's last Super Bowl appearance: Roethlisberger carried the offense, but a dominant defense (again ranked No. 1) was that team's hallmark. But things began to change in 2011. The defense ranked seventh, according to , but a wild-card playoff lo s to and the ended the Steelers' season on . By 2012, the defense dropped to 13th before falling to 19th in 2013 The Steelers went 8-8 both seasons. Pittsburgh returned to the postseason in 2014, but it was due in large part to one of the league's most explosive offenses. Led by Roethlisberger, and , that group ranked second behind only and the . Meanwhile, the defense continued to languish, falling to 30th. In more sobering terms, they were third from the bottom ahead of only the and . Then, in January 2015, the Steelers and coach Mike Tomlin decided to move on from LeBeau and give Butler, who had pa sed up opportunities with other teams, the task of restoring Pittsburgh's defense to its previous glory. If Butler's first season is any indication, the rebuilding proce s is ahead of schedule. Again, referring to Football Outsiders' advanced metrics, the defense ranked 11th last season, an improvement of 19 spots. The unit also went from 30th to 13th against the pa s and from 17th to 5th against the run. On the surface, losing key personnel would appear to have complicated Butler's job. Safety Troy Polamalu, cornerback Ike Taylor, defensive end Brett Keisel and outsider linebacker Jason Worilds all retired, and cornerback left in free agency. But veterans and were a steadying presence in the secondary, showed glimpses of dominating along the defensive line, and outside linebacker and first-rounder played more as a rookie than we were accustomed to seeing during LeBeau's tenure.Also critical: Butler simplified a scheme that was often described as complicated and intricate under LeBeau, allowing younger players to get on the field sooner. "He tweaked the defense into things he likes," outside linebacker and 2013 first-rounder said last November, via the . "We still have many of the old concepts, but (Butler) has simplified things so we can play faster and communicate better." Defensive end Cam Heyward added: "There were times in the Steven Matz Jersey past when we sat more on blocks, and let the linebackers make plays. In Butler's defense, we (defensive linemen) have more freedom. ... There are lot more blitzes involved, and there are more opportunities to execute one-on-ones. When we win the one-on-ones, we're a much better, succe sful team, and that's nothing against Coach LeBeau's defenses." "I have three sons, and Adrian Gonzalez Jersey I have two Super Bowl rings. I have to get one more. One of them's gonna be pi sed if I don't." Keith Butler Simplifying the scheme meant young players were thinking le s, playing faster and, ultimately, getting after the quarterback. In 2014, the defense managed just 33 sacks. Last season, they had 48. In terms of FO's , that's an improvement from 21st to 7th. And while LeBeau was known as the Godfather of the zone blitz and primarily a proponent of the 3-4 scheme, Butler isn't concerned with labels. "I would consider myself a whatever-it-takes-to-win guy," Butler said . "If it's a 3-4, that's fine, if that fits your players. I think you have to be able to fit your defense around the players you have. With what offenses are doing nowadays in the National Football League, they're playing a lot of three wide receivers and a tight end and a running back, for the most part. In those situations, we're going to be in kind of a 4-3 anyway, but we're still going to be able to run the 3-4 also. It gives you a little bit more versatility, I think." But as Tomlin has said throughout his tenure -- and reiterated after last season -- football is scheme-dependent. "We're all limited schematically, in terms of what we want to do," Tomlin said in January, via . "I think anybody that's an architect of football schematics, you have what you want to do, a vision Juan Lagares Jersey of what you want to do, and then you have the reality. And the reality is usually a sociated with the abilities of the players that you have, the amount of time, or your ability to teach and the way that your opponent stre ses you." The Steelers began rebuilding the defense in 2014, LeBeau's last season. The team drafted inside linebacker and defensive end Stephon Tuitt with its first two picks that year, then landed rush linebacker Bud Dupree and cornerback in 2015. After an injury-plagued rookie season, Shazier came into his own in '15. And Tuitt and Heyward have a chance to be two of the best defensive ends in football. Dupree's raw athleticism can take your breath away but he's still learning the position while Golson redshirted his rookie season after being sidelines with a shoulder injury. But the Steelers weren't done; in 2016 they used their first two picks on cornerback and safety , two long, athletic talents who, in Butler's defense, could see the field sooner rather than later. The good news is that Steelers are clearly serious about fixing a secondary that was one of the league's worst as recently as two seasons ago. The bad news: It's an extremely young group, and it's reasonable to expect growing pains. Gay and free safety are veterans, but after that, there could be plenty of inexperience on the field come September. Don't be surprised if Burns and Davis earn playing time immediately Jeurys Familia Jersey , or if Golson plays in sub-packages. It'll likely be a trial by fire for this group, though the upside is once it all comes together, their athleticism and playmaking ability will make the Steelers dangerous on both sides of the ball. Which brings us to the offense. Rare is the story about the Steelers that doesn't with the NFL's most potent offense, but if the defense continues to improve under Butler, offensive coordinator Todd Haley won't need to worry about , something the unit was just shy of last season (26.4), when Big Ben mi sed four games with various ailments.But here's the thing; a year ago, we were talking about Pittsburgh as a legit playoff team if the defense improved to middle-of-the-pack levels. The group did slightly better than that and the Steelers were a late fumble away from beating the Broncos in the AFC Divisional game. This time around, the expectation is that the Steelers' D will be a top-10 unit, the offense will continue to light up the scoreboard, and the Super Bowl is a realistic expectation. In fact, the most recent odds have the Steelers , behind only the , Packers and Seahawks. As for Butler's goals, odds aren't nece sary. "Win a Super Bowl the next three years," . "I have a three-year contract with the Rooneys. I aim to fulfill my contract. I have three sons, and I have two Super Bowl rings. I have to get one more. One of them's gonna be pi sed if I don't."
